Let's start gutting...

As I began to remove the furniture I quickly realized that all the interior walls, ceiling and floor would have to be replaced as well, along with lots of the structural framing. Thus begain the work of totally gutting the trailer.

All torn up...

In this shot you can see the torn up wheel well from the flapping blown tire. Oh well...

A leg to stand on?

Trying to figure this one out? Seems the bottom bunk had a slide in and out extension to the bed? Slide it in for a nice sitting couch and more floor space, slide it out for a bigger (41" wide) bed. The sliding seemed to be just plywood on plywood and prone to jamming. Doesn't seem like something a professional camper company would build, but I can't find signs of "user customizing" in this area. That door you see under the slide out accesses the same under-bed storage as the outside hatch to the right of the main door.

Room with a view...

The bottom bunk has tonnes of head space and a great view. I think I'll plan on reading lamps for both bunks.

A tight fit!

This bunk design still impresses me. Trying to imagine how much room there would be with 4 or 5" of mattress on top of it though? I know it's just for the kids, and better than sleeping on the ground, but it still seems tight. Oh well, gotta figure that somebody made a lot of money selling this design back in the 60's so it's probably good enough right?
